About the Founder

Patrick Horsman.

Investor, entrepreneur, and CFA charterholder. Two decades building businesses in the places mainstream capital has yet to map.

Patrick Horsman is a Canadian-born American investor and entrepreneur who has spent more than two decades building businesses in alternative assets. His career has stretched across capital raising, hedge funds, private equity, agricultural land, real estate, thematic ETFs, and digital assets, bound together by a single discipline: identifying durable advantage in places mainstream capital has yet to map.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona at fifteen. He went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management with a triple major in finance, accounting, and entrepreneurship. That same year, 2002, he co-founded his first firm, Blue Sand Securities, a FINRA-registered placement agent that has since raised more than $15 billion for institutional managers.

“The framework is simple. The discipline is staying inside it.”Horsman Holdings

In the years since, Patrick has co-founded and built firms across litigation finance (Merion Investment Management, roughly $1.2 billion in peak assets under management), agricultural development (Integrated Ag, some 17,000 acres of U.S. farmland), thematic ETFs (Innovation Shares, including one of the first blockchain funds, KOIN), decentralized finance (Coral Capital), and growth equity (Esoteric Investments). He is the founder of Octopus Investments, a Puerto Rico platform that identifies, structures, and seeds alternative asset managers, and of Horsman Holdings, his single-family office.

Today he serves as Chief Investment Officer of BNB Plus Corp. (Nasdaq: BNBX), a Nasdaq-listed digital asset treasury. He is a CFA charterholder and is or has been a member of TIGER 21, the Milken Institute, and the Financial Analysts Society of Puerto Rico. He lives in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with his family.

Patrick is also a co-founder of Paradiso College Preparatory, a network of tuition-free, college-preparatory charter schools in Puerto Rico, where he raised $17 million in founding capital and contributed more than $2 million personally. The Patrick Horsman Foundation Scholarship reflects the conviction that runs through his career and his philanthropy alike: that the foundation of any successful career is the discipline and quality of a serious education, and that the most durable returns, financial or otherwise, come from building what should exist rather than allocating to what already does.

The advice Patrick gives every young founder is the same: begin before you feel ready, bring in people smarter than you, learn as you build, stay humble, and be a key part of the team rather than the whole show. Then let the team win.

“Have the guts to start. You are smart enough to figure out the rest.”Patrick Horsman
