About Patrick Horsman.
A serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist who lives in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and is focused on making a difference for the next generation.
Patrick B. Horsman is a serial entrepreneur known not only for his success in business but for his generosity, philanthropy, and commitment to giving back. He looks for ways to share his experience and knowledge with the next generation, and he is especially interested in helping students achieve their goals as entrepreneurs.
Patrick attended the University of Arizona, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2002 with a triple major in finance, accounting, and entrepreneurship. After graduation he co-founded Blue Sand Securities, the first of many firms he would found or co-found over the next two decades. Since then he has developed and invested in many business ventures, predominantly in the alternative investment space, focusing on hedge funds, private equity, and real estate. Today he is the Founder and Managing Partner of Octopus Investments, based in Puerto Rico.
A focus on making a difference
Patrick has broken barriers in the entrepreneurial world, and he understands the importance of leading those who will go on to create the next wave of business opportunities. That conviction is the reason behind this scholarship. As he puts it, entrepreneurship is extremely difficult and requires perseverance, intelligence, and an unrelenting drive for success.
A philanthropist at heart
The scholarship is part of Patrick's broader philanthropic work through Patrick Horsman Giving, which also supports Paradiso College Preparatory, a tuition-free charter school network in Puerto Rico. When he is not working, Patrick enjoys golf, spearfishing, and spending time with his family in San Juan.
